From Perranporth to the South Pacific for Millerson Manager
Tue 07 Jun 2016
Manager of the Perranporth office, Helen Hartshorne, played a leading role in the sell-out production of South Pacific at Cornwall’s Minack Theatre - arguably the most beautiful performance venue in the world.
Glorious sunshine and the amazing backdrop of an azure Atlantic crashing against craggy Cornish cliffs completed Redruth Amateur Operatic Society’s production of the family favourite - set on the South Pacific Islands during World War Two.
Helen played the female lead, nurse Nellie Forbush. Accompanied by a full orchestra and supported by a talented cast, she wowed the audience over five evenings and two matinee shows.
Helen has been performing in local theatre for a number of years. This was her third time performing at the Minack Theatre, the last time, four years ago, was with the Atlantic Theatre Company performing in Titanic to mark the 100th Anniversary of the ships first and last voyage. Helen has also recently won a ‘Best Actress’ award for her performance as Norma Desmond in the South West Premier of ‘Sunset Boulevard’ and in March she directed and choreographed the musical ‘Legally Blonde’ at the Regal Theatre. She has performed in many theatres throughout the UK, having previously toured the UK in a Rock Opera.
She said: “It was an amazing experience. The weather was beautiful and balmy, every show was a sell out and with all-time favourite songs like; ‘I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair’, ‘Some Enchanted Evening’ and ‘There Is Nothing Like A Dame’, everyone seemed to love it. The whole cast of around 40 stayed close to the theatre for the week, so it was a bit like being on holiday with a huge group of friends.”
“We’re extremely proud to have such a talented performer as part of the Millerson team,” said company Operations Partner, Jeremy Miller.
