The true value of a traditional approach to selling houses

Mon 09 May 2016

Our Liskeard team has been testing the value of traditional marketing against online methods to see what advertising works and who’s reading what. It appears traditional methods are the best.

Selecting the two most recent instructions, the team advertised both in the local press but chose not to put them online. The phone calls came flooding in for both properties almost immediately and a sale was agreed on one within days.

When the team took on a particularly splendid detached family home in Trewidland, Branch Manager, Emma Elkin, decided to take the test one step further. The only place news that the property was for sale appeared was in the window of the Liskeard office.

Within 24 hours the card in the window had been spotted and viewings arranged. Again the property sold, at the full asking price, within days of hitting the market.

“We feel our tests prove that the traditional ways are the best,” said Emma. “Traditional values are the cornerstone of the Millerson ethos and we believe this contributes to our success. We will, of course, continue to use online property portals to advertise as a matter of course because our clients deserve the most comprehensive service, but it was comforting to know that the traditional ways are often still the best.”
