Why move to Hayle?

Hayle is a small town in a great position – minutes’ walk to miles of coastal paths and gorgeous sandy beaches and dunes that are great for surfing and sunbathing, with Hayle, Towans and Godrevy beaches of particular note. While only a few minutes’ drive from the south coast for sailing, Hayle is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts and the coastline is popular with boating folk, surfers and those who enjoy a spot of fishing. Attractions like the local bird sanctuary, Paradise Park, bring in families from around the county.

While Hayle is small, there are plenty of mainly independent shops in the town, and on the nearby A30 there is an out-of-town retail park with a Boots, Asda, Lidl and Marks and Spencer.

In town, there are plenty of places to eat including an Indian restaurant, a restaurant-cum-wine bar and an Italian eatery. Out of town, in neighbouring Connor Downs, is the famous Trevaskis Farm, very popular with families who can pick their own vegetables and eat great, locally produced food.

Bird watchers’ paradise

Hayle estuary is an RSPB sanctuary and one of the best places in the UK for spotting wildlife. During spring and autumn it is the place to spot migrant wading birds, terns and gulls and you may be lucky, in summer, to spot an osprey. Even in harsh winters this most south-westerly estuary never freezes and as many as 18,000 birds have been seen here.

Good local schools

Hayle is lucky to boast several excellent schools; Hayle Community School is the local secondary and is rated ‘good’ by Ofsted, both Penpol School and Bodriggy Academy are ‘outstanding’ primary schools and St Piran’s School is a good independent school for children aged 3 to 16.

Great transport links

Hayle is just a few minutes’ drive to bustling St Ives and is situated on the A30 so has great access west to the Penzance area and east to the rest of Cornwall, Devon and beyond.

The railway station provides services to local towns as well as to Reading, London Paddington and cross-country services to Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow.

Newquay Airport is only 45 minutes away with routes to UK and Irish airports as well as European destinations.
